Do it or not? this is the question
The biggest question in the whole world! Would you take drugs if someone would tell you that you can earn millions of dollars if you do it? Well this is the the situation now in the athletics. If an athlete wants to be the best and wants to have good results than they need something to stay alive on practice because the workload that the athletes have on practice is a killer. Athletes always have to push themselves to the limit and it is very hard. On practice your body gets so tired and exhausted that you can not recover from it by the next practice. The pressure that the athletes are under to perform is humongous! Athletes always have to be ready to go and give their best on practice and on competition as well so they need some extra push. That's when the drugs come to the picture. Drugs are so easy and helpful to take because it gets you trough the practice and it shortens the recovery time from the practice. The professional sport is one of the toughest work that an individual can do. In order to stand the workload on practice athletes need some extra boost. They are working their body on the limit every time. It is stress on their body and mind all the time so they need an extra substance to enhance the productivity of their work. it is very important for an athlete to recover from a practice and be able to start the other practice just as fresh as they would start it the first time. It is a big dilemma among athletes: should I take drugs? Should I not? If they take illegal substances than they are at the risk of getting caught by WADA. But if they are lucky than they are not getting caught and all the the good results come around and they can get famous. but if they get caught then the negative fame comes around. They will be humiliated and they will be deprived from their results and medals. it is a big issue and a big question that is it worth it to dope? Well no one knows. athletes have a 50-50 chance in either way. they will have to decide would they take the risk. It is always a hard decision to make and if you go that direction u will not turn around. Once an athlete starts to take illegal substances they will never find their way back to the clean sport. It is hard to stand not to take drugs if your body already adjusted to it and it makes your practice easier. That is the way which from an athlete can never turn back. It is the belief too that u can only perform with drugs in your body and you can never compete in a high level without drugs. So this is a tough decision and athletes have to make hard decisions every day and this is one of them!

Why????
Back in the day when it was no regulations in the drug usage, athletes took drugs like it would be candy. Well, in many ways it was their candy! It was no regulations, no one to say stop you destroying your body. Most of these athletes died at age 45-50 because they overdosed themselves. In the 80’s and 90’s woman athletes were taking drugs without knowing what they were taking. The huge increase in testosterone these women developed muscles much bigger than women typically can . This is pretty amazing. Drugs are really dangerous to people, but they are more dangerous for women because it changes their hormones. Women give birth to children and it is dangerous to take drugs because they can cause disorders in the child. Especially in the good old days where it was no control over doping what so ever. Coaches and countries just wanted to get results and they were willing to destroy a person's life. In the modern era the drugs evolved to a higher level.
"The line between what is effective and legal and what is effective and illegal is fading—it's not clear anymore because the people who are making these other substances are getting very good and they are finding ways to dim the line,"
said Harold Connolly, a former Olympic hammer-thrower and world record-holder who used steroids in the 1960's before coming out against their use. The athletes who are taking these more advanced drugs are the ones who can afford it because it is really expensive. In most of these cases, the wealthier countries’ National Athletic Associations support their own athletes with these drugs. For example, USA, Russia, and Germany can afford these drugs and their scientists are working on newer and newer drugs because they have the money to support it, while the smaller countries with less wealth cannot afford these advanced drugs. Now the biggest problem in the athletics is that it is not about the human performance anymore. It is about money and who can afford the better drugs and perform better than the other. Some people think that doping should be allowed!Sometimes I feel the same way. Why prohibit drugs if you can use it and athletes will keep using it anyway. Why not give a chance for a moderate and controlled drug usage.?

Dope yourself to the limit
Well, let me tell you a story about a the 2004 Olympics. In Hungary it was two very privileged athlete who were considered the next two Olympic champion in track and field for Hungary. (We shell not talk about their names.) They went into the Olympics with so much confidence that they going to win the GOLD medal. And they did!! But in what cost?? Well the fact the matter is that they got caught and they were stripped from their Gold medals after they had their drug test. In the same Olympics three Hungarian weight lifters got caught with performance-enhancing drugs and the whole weight lifting team got banned for two years. The two Hungarian athletes violated the doping rules and were banned for two years from the sport. Hungary is a small country and the people are willing to do illegal things to get noticed. It is common in Hungary that athletes are taking drugs (but stupidly) to keep up with the world. Since this incident everyone is stereotyping Hungary as a nation that allows their athletes to take drugs. The truth is that the Hungarian federation knew what these people were doing and did not take any action to stop them! It is so common in small countries that they are willing to jeopardize the whole country reputation by allowing these people to go to the Olympics and than they can not cover up their cheating. They destroyed the country’s reputation. It is understandable that athletes are competing with each other but they have to do it within certain boundaries. That means no drugs in sport but this is not possible. There is a lot of money in sports and everyone wants to be the best no matter what. This is a bad attitude because if someone takes illegal drugs that means that he or she is not showing his or her own performance, is only shows the effectiveness of the drug that he or she takes. I have a funny example from the 80’s. The East German woman’s swimming team dominated the world at that time. It was in the Swimming World Championship where someone asked a woman swimmer why is her voice is is so deep. Her response was that she came here to compete and not to sing! This example shows that people are doing anything to be the best.

All out!
Well let me start this blog post with an experience I just had a week ago. I met this guy from a club and we got friends. He was a former model and he admitted to me that he was taking drugs to get the body he wanted in order to reach his goal in modeling. Well... I think modeling is kind of a sport too- you live from it. It is your job and that is where you get your money from. Athletics is like Hollywood it is an entertainment industry. You have to pay a lot of money to get into a famous show in Hollywood and it is just like in athletics competitions. It is a lot of money to get a ticket to one of the famous sport events. This is a job! It is hard to admit but that is the truth. The only difference in Hollywood and in the life of the stars is that it is legal to them to take performance enhancement drugs to reach their goal but it is illegal to take drugs as an athlete. My only question is, why is that? It is the same thing, it is a job, it is your life. In Hollywood you take drugs to be better than the other actress. To get certain jobs and to be better looking than the another person so you can get the photo shoot. They compete against each other and in that industry everyone takes some kind of drug to be better looking than others. The only difference between the Hollywood race and an athletic race is that in Hollywood it is allowed to take the drugs and everyone is aware of it. How come a 17 year old kid can grow muscles like a 25 year old.
Well obvious he took something to enhance his body, and obviously he was working out crazy, but still... one industry is just like another. Athletics is an entertainment industry as well as Hollywood. Athletes are paid to look good and give performance like no other. In athletics it is banned to take any kind of drug- even though most of the well known athletes take it anyway- to be better than others. What is the difference between the two industry? I say nothing! So I'm asking how can I compete with all these people who are genetically modified and drugged from the beginning. I feel that to be good in athletics you can't be "clean". You must take something extra into your body to get those results. In competitions you get tested for all kinds of drugs. It is only a manner of luck to get caught in athletics. Everything is banned and I mean everything! you can not take a cold medication without consulting your doctor about its ingredients. It is ridiculous! I feel that the world of sports try to push the button on being clean and perform without drugs but it is just not happening. It will always be drug in the athletics even though WADA tries to fight against it. Always be countries and lobbies for certain athletes to cover their doping usage. Its been like this for centuries why would it change now. It is a job where you get paid!

socialization
Hi everyone, This week I will try to find my social bookmarking soul mate on the web. As I was searching on the web to find my soul mate I found a website called delicious.com. It is kind of hard to find a good social bookmarking soul mate in my subject area. Doping is not a very popular topic on the web. It is a very specific to certain people who knows about the scandals of athletic. After I was spending a ton of time online looking for my soul mate I think I finally found it. I was looking on delicious and a person named jkstyle's and his bookmarks looked just like the one I was looking for. His tags are: sport, genetics, drug, tennis, lawsuit, scandal, science, brain, Olympics, health, medicine, and so on. He is going to be my social bookmarking soul mate because he has all this comments on the blogs he tags and he is up to date all the time. For example on the Athletes Beware, Scientists Hot on Gene Doping TrailRead More blog he makes a note:
After warning for years that athletes would try to dope their genes, scientists are finding ways to catch them. The tests are still being refined in animals, but will likely be run years from now on samples taken at the upcoming Winter Olympics and stored. The tests reflect a new approach to doping detection: Rather than targeting specific, easily masked chemicals, they look at system-wide changes in gene expression and protein production.
He bookmarks all the topics that I could discuss in my area of blogging. He adds a lot of comment on the tags he puts on the blogs that he bookmarks. He will be able to help me organize my blog and get good up to date information on different topics in my area. Another blog that he tagged was: Doping athletes with genes where he makes another comment:
On the eve of the Beijing Olympics, we examine the prospect of athletes using gene therapy to enhance their performance—and of catching them if they try
He has bookmarked 13 doping related blogs, 180 sport related blogs and 13950 overall tags in different areas. He has a wide variety of topics and he is bookmarking, tagging frequently. He is organized and he make a lot of notes on the blogs he tags. This person will be able to help me keep going with my blog.

Trifecta corrected!
Hello world!
Hi everyone! I started this blog because I am involved in the world of sports and I am really interested in this topic. I will write about doping and performance enhancement drug usage in professional sports because I think it is one of the most important topics nowadays. Track and field is my life and today I came to a conclusion that it is almost impossible to get good results without some kind of medical help. Which is funny because in the past sports were about competing with each other human to human, and now sports are all about how well equipped your medical team is with the latest drugs to enhance your performance. So now, the battle is between the medical companies and not the actual human. Human performance got PIMPED! In my opinion it is not right! OK you probably have to take vitamins and the legal dietary supplements that can help you but they are not going to do the work for you. I know even though athletes take drugs to perform better, the drugs alone are not going to improve them if they would sit around all day drinking beer and watching TV. I know they work just as hard as all other athletes, but they have an advantage - a jump-start - something that will get them through the tough practice. While the people who only take allowed supplements most likely would "die" from the same amount of work. That is the difference! You are not going to be an outstanding athlete just because you take drugs; they just help you along the way.
I have been in the “industry” of athletics since I was 12. I started my professional career at that time, and I learned that no one cares if you are “clean” and have mediocre results or maybe a bit better. The only thing that counts is whether you are a champion, a record holder, or an Olympic champion even though everyone knows that you achieved those results by cheating. The world only cares if you get caught! Unless they can prove that you took something you are considered clean, even though everyone knows what you are doing. The world of doping is very controversial. One day you could be the king on the hill. The next day they test you and then find out you take illegal drugs, and you get banned! Which means you have to give back everything that you got and they will try to humiliate you in front of the public. First of all, I say that is OK because you cheated. But how come they( The WADA aka World Anti-Doping Agency- They test the athletes all the time) did not know about that earlier so the whole thing would not happen in the first place? Here is something that you should know about doping: you can’t take it before the competition and VOILA… bam you are the best in the world! It is a long process; you have to take illegal performance enhancement drugs for months (sometimes years) to reach the level of the champion. It does not happen over night! Also, athletes at that level get tested at least once or twice a month; so how come they they did not discover that the athlete was cheating - from those tests - and they only find it after the damage is done. Well, these are the issues I will try to explore and bring to your mind.
See what others do.
Hi everyone,
In this post I am going to talk about other people's work, and I try to look for others in my topic area to see what they say and how they approach this topic. One day when I was surfing on the web, I come across this blog. This blog belongs to Peter Giles is a former Olympic athlete, physicist and rational thinker from Canada. He has his blog called the Now THAT's Amateur and he is discussing most of the athletic related questions and all the fresh topics that are in the sports world nowadays. He is very up to date with all his topics and he has a very formal writing style. He probably knows more about sports and rules than anyone in the business. I was amazed by his knowledge of all the small details about doping rules and the consequences of doping in athletics. He mentions the WADA code and he even links to their direct website which shows knowledge in this field of athletics.
In each case I'll frame the athlete's case in terms of the WADA Code (PDF) and associated anti-doping rules.
I am inspired by his talent and effort that he puts into this blog to let other people know about the rules and consequences of doping. He knows what he is talking about and he is educating all those people who are in the world of sports. He frequently posts on his blog and always gives detailed description about the topic about which he is writing. I feel I will never be able to reach his level of knowledge! His two most interesting posts to me are the ones that talk about Marion Jones and the doping issue of Floyd Landis. These articles are a part of a three part blog series and all of them talk about the violations that the athletes committed and the punishment that they got for breaking the rules.
2. The urine tested was not Landis' specimen. When urine samples are collected, the vials containing the A and B samples are labeled with unique identifying numbers. Both vials are sealed, and then sealed together within another labeled container. The number on each sample ensures that the test results are properly assigned to the appropriate athlete, and are also supposed to ensure anonymity of the sample within the lab. The lab documentation would report the positive test by sample number only.
I really like his deep awareness about all the small details of doping rules, and he goes deeply into the topic to describe to the reader what all these things are. He makes the reader understand the things that he is talking about.
Peter Giles is discusses all the official information about doping in athletics. I, on the other hand, will try to talk about the doping in a more informal way from a point of view of an athlete. I will try to visit his site more often to see what is new, to get some updates about the rules and the doping code and all the related issues that he will discuss in his blog.
Voices in my head!
The other day I came across a blog on line about gene doping and how it will replace steroids in the athletic world. As I was reading that post, I felt like the person was able to articulate his voice in his post much better than I ever will. I started to think that I would have to look up some other posts of his so I can see how he creates his voice. I feel like I don't have specific voice in my posts so I want to learn from others. So... Well I was reading this post: Will Genetic Juicing Replace Steroids?, and I started to think Maaan... This guy is smart! He had so many legible examples his post. For example he knows that what is the current status on the gene therapy in the medical world.
Currently, it is only legally used for medical reasons to make patients live longer. However, gene therapy is currently risky for several reasons: firstly, the gene may be rejected by patient.
He seems really educated in this topic. He uses a very professional voice. I will try to make more casual voice in my posts because I am new in this. I looked up his other post where he is talking about the new treatment glioblastoma. He has a professional and mostly medical voice because it is a biology site for a class. He definitely knows what he is talking about so I looked up his profile. Of course he is smart! Of course he is educated in this field because he must be a biology teacher. I did not find out too much about him but I could figure it out. All of his other posts he does the same thing. I feel like he is educating the people about all the dietary and medical stuff they supposed to know, but obviously people don't know. I think he is doing a good job explaining- in his doping post - the effects of the gene doping. He uses a radical voice and cuts straight to the point that if someone does use this method of doping can seriously be hurt or even killed. I feel like that he is educating the students and the people who read his blog. He is doing a good job with the choice of words that he is using to make the reader think twice, before he or she does something like this, in order to improve their performance.
If the operation is done poorly enough, the immune system's response may be severe enough to kill the patient (i.e., shutting down organs, including the brain). Also, gene therapy does not last for a long period of time, so multiple operations are required until the therapy actually works and cures the patient.
He has a source on his blog where hi is getting all his ideas and inspirations to write this post. I think it is clever way to see where did you start your thinking and how did you developed the topic. I feel I should analyze his source, because the post is clever, scientific and I can get a lot of very important information about gene doping.
But back to the post that I choose!
He gives an example of a German coach who would have been willing to give this stuff to his athletes in order to improve their performance but thankfully he got caught before he could do so. I think it was a clever idea a to give a negative example that, what could happen if you do it so?
In 2006, a German track and field coach tried to allow genetic juicing to his athletes for the 2008 Olympics in China, but was caught before anyone could be treated.
I think that it is important to give examples so the audience can imagine the consequences of these things. It makes the reader feel that he really knows what he is talking about.
This is the kind of writing I would like to present to you. But I would like to put some personal experience from my sport - which is Track and Field (discus) - so you can have little sense how it is like to be in a grinder of the doping world.

In 2006, a German track and field coach tried to allow genetic juicing to his athletes for the 2008 Olympics in China, but was caught before anyone could be treated.I think that i important to give examples so the audience can imagine the consequences of this things. It makes the reader feel that he really knows what he is talking about.
This is the kind of writing I would like to present to you but I would like to put some personal experience from my sport you you can have little sense how is like to be in a grinder of the doping world.
See what others do
Hi everyone,
In this post I am going to talk about other people's work, and I try to look for others in my topic area to see what they say and how they approach this topic.
In each case I'll frame the athlete's case in terms of the WADA Code (PDF) and associated anti-doping rules.I am inspired by his talent and effort that he puts into this blog to let other people know about the rules and consequences of doping.
The lab documentation would report the positive test by sample number only.I really like his deep awareness about all the small details of doping rules, and he goes deeply into the topic to describe to the reader what all these things are.

I know they work just as hard as all other athletes, but they have an advantage - a jump start - something that will get them through the tough practice. But how come they did not know about that earlier so the whole thing would not happen in the first place? Here is something that you should know about doping: you can’t take it before the competition and VOILA… bam you are the best in the world! It is a long process; you have to take illegal performance enhancement drugs for months (sometimes years) to reach the level of the champion. It does not happen over night! Also, athletes at that level get tested at least once or twice a month; so how come they they did not discover that the athlete was cheating - from those tests - and they only find it after the damage is done. Well, these are the issues I will try to explore and bring to your mind.
